Wow. Until this weekend I had forgotten how much I enjoy coding my website. I’ve had some significant changes in the works for how long now? I think the last time I touched my site’s code was August 2003! However, I think everything is done now.

I’ve been putting the finishing touches on the conversion to XHTML, the use of more CSS formatting, and the few tweaks and new features that I had planned. The new update will bring graphical emoticon support, support for attaching audio files in the document archive, new random text on the homepage, and some other new extras.

Hopefully I’ll get the new templates uploaded along with some overdue software updates very soon. Prepare to beta test, everyone.

Ahhhh… Nothing like taking some time off to code some html. And of course that means that I’m working on some spiffy new features for my website. This time it’s graphical emoticon auto-conversion. Check out some screenshots from my test server.

Being the perfectionist that I am, this site is always in a state of continual development. There’s always something that I want to change, tweak, add, or remove. Sometimes it’s something big. Sometimes it’s something small. For example, I’ve been working off and on for some time on a minor code update to go from HTML 4.01 to XHTML 1.0, and to take better advantage of style-sheets (CSS 2.0). And someday, I’ll get around to such major projects as putting up the photo gallery, adding auto-emoticon conversion to the comments, and possibly support for mood & music indicators in my blog entries (don’t hold your breath on this one).

Today, however, I’ve made a quick and easy change. I’ve decided that I’m sick of using Times New Roman 12 on my site. In fact, I’m sick of all serif fonts. It’s time to start using sans-serif fonts, not just in the headers, but everywhere (except maybe in the documents archive). Therefore, with one quick change in my style-sheet, I’m now using Arial 12 as my default font. What do you think?

Where did I go? Well, nowhere actually. So why have I been neglecting my blog? Well, I could say that I’ve been too busy working on school stuff to come up with good blog ideas. However, that would be a rather lame excuse to some. Maybe I’m just a lazy bum. I guess I’ll let you take your pick.

Well, whichever explanation you prefer, I have been rather busy. After a grueling trio of midterms, spring break was nice and relaxing. I did some homework, slept in, and kicked back. It was a much needed break. After that, however, it was back to the grind, especially since I had two big projects due yesterday. It’s such a relief to have that done, and I’m incredibly thankful that another assignment, which was also due yesterday, was pushed back 20 whole days.

Now my schedule is lightening up again, so you should expect a more normal frequency of blog o’Steve goodness.

Something is wrong in the universe. I think someone’s been messing with the Force… or whatever it is that inspires people to blog. This is my first update in over a week (I know, I deserve a flogging), Kyrie hasn’t been too chatty on her blog recently, and just today Laurel informed the world that she’s calling it quits—at least for the foreseeable future. What the heck is wrong with us? Did all our brains simultaneously run dry? Have we just been too busy, sick, or distracted? Nevertheless, whatever the cause, I assure you that I will blog on—rain, sleet, snow, midterm, paper, or final!

[prolonged silence]

Ummm… Any ideas?
