Yes, it is only 3 days until “Trilogy Tuesday”! With the awesome new RotK TV trailers on the airwaves (see one @ theonering.net [quicktime | windows media]), Elijah Wood on SNL tonight, and all the glowing reviews you could ask for over at AICN, I’m getting pumped up for those 12 hours of LotR bliss. Plus, not only will I get to enjoy the marathon with friends like Nick and the McGarrys, but Jed is driving up from Nashville to claim the extra ticket that I ended up with after Rudy couldn’t get off work. Tuesday is going to be awesome. Anyway, back to papers.
Archive for the “Friends & Family” CategoryI just received word that my friend Wendy’s wedding, which was earlier today, went quite well. Congratulations to her. Earlier this afternoon, I was doing some web-surfing and checking my email when I got an IM from Jed. This isn’t an unusual occurrence, however this time it was a plea for help since he was stranded at a Mac store with a car that failed to start. (Of all the places to get stranded, that has to be one of the best.) Since he lives in Nashville, there wasn’t much that I could do, except try to get in touch with Megan for him. Jed gave me what he thought was Megan’s pager number, but when I called it, there were no instructions nor any identification, just a beep, a few seconds of silence, and a “Thank you”. So I don’t know who, or what, I called. Anyway, I called Megan’s house and got her real pager number from one of her roommates, which I then used to leave a message for her about Jed’s predicament. Hopefully that will help get Jed home. Just as I was posting a follow-up comment to the previous post, I received a strange call on my cell phone. The caller ID said that it was my friend Brian, but when I answered it, all I got was a few seconds of toddler babble before the other side hung up. Since Brian indeed has a young tot—whose name is Aidan—I figured that Brian was just messing with me. I returned the call to find out what Brian was up to, but got Sue-Ellen, his wife, instead, who informed me that Aidan had hit the redial button. Apparently, Aidan has started hitting the redial button on a semi-regular basis. However, this most recent occurrence was the first time that the call went through, so that makes me the recipient of Aidan’s first phone call. Lucky me! Wow… that kid’s growing up so fast. Jed and I are officially locked into a weight-loss challenge. The Goal: Lose at least 15 pounds by his wedding at the end of May. The Reason: Because everyone wants to look good for a wedding. The Stakes: a bottle of booze, and possibly the entire set of Pixar movies. The one of us who loses the most weight by the night before the wedding will receive a bottle of alcohol from the other. In addition, should either of us fail to lose at least 15 pounds, he who fails must give the other a complete set of Pixar movies on DVD (substitutions acceptable for titles already owned). Jed’s official, initial weight: 228 You are the witnesses. Game on! |
