I got the call at 6:30 this morning from the St. Louis Police that my car had been found. I forgot to ask where they found it, but it’s on its way to the impound lot right now. Supposedly, there isn’t much in the way of gratuitous damage (apart from the broken window and punched-out ignition)—just a flat tire, and even then the perp(s) was/were nice enough to put on the spare.
Anyway, it’s been a restless night. I went to bed around 11, woke up briefly a couple times during the night, and hit quasi-insomnia sometime after 4:00. I think I finally managed to drift off to some state of light sleep around 6:00—just in time to be woken up by the phone. ::sigh:: Well, I’m certainly awake now. Maybe I can get a power nap this afternoon.

Well I guess that’s better than “We found what was left of your car at a local chop shop.” but still sucks.

keep us updated on the state of the poor neon. How did you get home after it was stolen? How did you get to work this morning?

Man, that stinks. Sorry to hear about that. I didn’t know that Neons were targeted for this. Was your class at Central?

> How did you get home after it was stolen?
Fortunately, I walked out with a few of my classmates, so there were two people right there when I dumbfoundedly exclaimed, “My car is missing!” While I stood surveying the pile of glass in shock, one of them ran back to get the instructor, who came over along with another student. They were all kind enough to hang around while I waited for the police to show up and make out the report. Afterwards, my instructor gave me a ride home.
> How did you get to work this morning?
I didn’t. I called in as soon as the Library opened and told them that I had no idea when I would be in, but that I would shoot for being there in time for the new student worker training I was to conduct this afternoon (I made it). In the meantime, I franticly called my insurance company, the police, the towing company/impound lot, the body shop, and the rental car company. Actually, the insurance claim representative hooked me up directly with the rental car company and got it set up so that the bill would go directly to them. So I’ll be cruising around in the rental until my car is fixed.

Yep. Apparently they’re one of the easier cars to steal. The rental car guy told me that their Neons get stolen all the time.
And yes, my class was at Central.
